Hotels and Lodges Near Monteverde Cloud Forest

Hotel El Establo:
“El Establo” is situated in the heart of the touristic zone of Monteverde, Costa Rica,  7 kms from the Santa Elena Rain Forest and 4 kms from the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Set in a private 150 acres farm (50% protected primary forest) adjacent to the Monteverde Reserve. Hotel Fonda Vela:
The Fonda Vela Hotel has nine buildings nestled in the landscaped property, designed with natural lighting, privacy and warmth. All have large windows with views of our forest allowing the outside beauty to be a part of a cozy interior.

Their 20 junior suites have a small refrigerator, table, king and queen-size beds, a comfortable sofa and 14 with TV’s.
All rooms have telephones. Most of the rooms are wheelchair accessible; please request one at the time of making your reservation if that is required. On the 35-acre property, you will find lush forests and verdant pastures that are excellent for birding and hiking. In this tranquil setting, you may see parrots and emerald toucans that come to feed in the fruiting trees, occasionally. During certain months the Fonda Vela is excellent for seeing Resplendent Quetzal, Three-waltted Bellbird and Keel-billed toucans. Horses graze in the pasture below. A 15-minute walk away is the world famous 10,500-hectare Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The Santa Elena Reserve is a short drive away where you may observe the Arenal Volcano on a clear day.

Hotel Monteverde Lodge:
The dining room of the Monteverde Lodge, with its cloud forest mural, abundant tropical flora, and contemporary design is the perfect setting for enjoying a unique a la carte cuisine lovingly created especially for Monteverde by Hugo “Perla” Salas, the person responsible for the meals at all our lodges.
The accommodations at the Monteverde Lodge are designed to put you “in the forest” while protecting you from the mist and strong wind so characteristic of the area. All are spacious with solar heated hot water private baths.

A running stream, pond and small waterfall provide a habitat for riverine birds and a host of reptiles and amphibians. Carefully placed benches provide a comfortable place, offer privacy and/or panoramic vistas from the Lodge to observe the wildlife, read, write, or just wile away the hours.
